Using a website traffic checker gives you insight into who is visiting your site, how they interact with your pages, and of course, where that traffic is coming from. This is critical information because you can’t improve your traffic rankings or search results without it. It can also give you insight into what your competitors are doing, which is just as important.

So, what is the best way to go about checking your website traffic? You don’t have to have a digital marketing degree to access the tools needed to analyze web traffic. There are tons of platforms that provide the data to understand your audience. Relying on these tools and checking them daily will amplify how you analyze your traffic so that you can take the steps needed to improve the data.

Ubersuggest

Let's Work Together!

Ubersuggest is a tool that not only tells you how your traffic is performing but educates you on why the numbers matter. You can take courses on SEO and learn more about what tools you can add to your analytics arsenal.

You can sign-up for a free trial account and get started right away. It’s one of the more affordable programs out there.

SEMRush

SEMRush is one of the most popular SEO audit tools on the market. Many SEO professionals use it to analyze their traffic and gather data needed to improve page rankings and marketing performance. It tracks important data markers like unique visitors and traffic sources and allows you to research how your competitors are performing.

Having insight into your competitors and ranking in comparison hands you the data you need to make yourself even more competitive in the space.

SimilarWeb

While this won’t work well for newer websites, if you’ve been running your site for a while, it’s a great option. ScreamingFrog has said it’s one of the more accurate website traffic checkers you can use.

It comes in both a monthly paid version and a free version (with limited features). While it’s not as robust as some of its competitors, it’s a great platform that provides plenty of the data you need.

Alexa

Alexa is another platform that comes both paid and free. However, the free version ranks based on Alexa ranked traffic and not the actual analytics. If you want the most accurate results, you’ll need to upgrade.

It’s one of the easiest ways to check your competitors’ web traffic without spending a ton of money on platforms like SEMRush. Still, it doesn’t come with as many features as the above. Nor are the results as accurate.

If you’re interested in analyzing your web traffic and that of your competitors, getting a robust platform like SEMRush or Ubersuggest is necessary. They give you efficient results and help you understand what you’re doing right and areas of improvement.

Another great program to consider if you’re a beginner is Google Analytics. It’s free, easy to set-up, and walks you through analyzing your own traffic. Whatever you decide to use as a website traffic checker, be sure to invest time into learning what the data means and how it affects your site performance.
